Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Zenith box or paperwork. The watch comes paired with a well-suited leather strap. The watch is from Circa. 1997 and is sold in worn condition, but overall very fair condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months Non-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Zenith was founded in 1865 by 22-year-old watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot, their manufacturing was based in Le Locle Switzerland. Famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who was the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911 and the North Pole in 1926, wore Zenith watches on his expeditions. In 1999 Zenith was purchased by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) joining brands like TAG and Hublot. Zenith is one of the only Swiss manufacturers to still produce their own in-house movements.

The Port Royal V was produced between 1994 and 1999. Our 1997 Zenith Port Royal V 01.0250.887 has a 29mm by 43mm stainless steel "Tank" case. Its angular lugs with a lug-to-lug length and thickness ensure a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, is a signed crown. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp lines. A polished bezel holds a domed Sapphire crystal. The eggshell dial has elegant applied large numerals marking the hours that radiate in an attractive way around the inner minute track with red numerals adding a splash of colour. At 6 o'clock a small seconds register. Slender syringe hands are coated in luminescence. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back. Inside a Zenith Quartz Cal. 877. The watch comes fitted on a 20mm leather strap.

Personal Note

A birth year watch for me, again, if only I could keep them all! A real stunning Zenith Port Royal V which combines the world of dress and casual perfectly, just like the Cartier Tank in my opinion. Paired with a formal strap you've got a large rectangular dress watch, paired on something less formal you've got the perfect everyday watch, and being that it's quartz you'll never have to worry beyond a battery change!
