The Watch

Here we have a 1997 TAG Heuer Carrera Re-Edition 36mm White CS3110 Box & Papers, a faithful modern interpretation of their 1964 Heuer Carrera released in 1996, the 36mm polished stainless steel case curves over your wrist with angled tapered flat-ended lugs, a lug-to-length of 44mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm ensuring a comfortable fit. Down the right side, we have the piston-style chronograph pushers and a signed crown in the centre. A stepped smooth bezel holds a domed acrylic crystal above a white dial, a white decimal scale track surrounds a blue 60-minute scale above applied baton indexes coated with Tritium and Tritium pips marking the hours, at 3 o’clock a 30-minute register, at 6 o’clock a 12-hour register and finally at 9 o’clock a continuous seconds register, each slightly recessed and precisely executed with a black stick hand. Slender sword hands filled with Luminova are complemented by a tapered chronograph hand (Original Tritium hands are included in the set as photographed), at 12 o’clock we have the Heuer motif completing this vintage-inspired re-edition. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with “Heuer” engraved into it, inside a manually wound Lemania 1873, 18 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with an 18mm sports-style leather strap complete with a distinctive Heuer pin buckle, and this watch is sold with its original TAG Heuer box and paperwork.

Personal Note

You would be incredibly hard-pressed to find a better example CS3110 than the one we have for you here! Featuring its original tritium dial, crisp and strong polished case, box, paperwork and recent TAG Heuer service, it is the perfect example and set for a true collector out there. I would also argue this is the best modern (neo-vintage now?) TAG Heuer re-edition of the original Carrera's that the brand has done in many, many years, especially as it is powered by the manually wound Lemania 1873!

The Brand

Edouard Heuer founded The Heuer Watch Company in 1860 in St. Imier, Switzerland. Chronographs have been the mainstay for Heuer and later TAG Heuer. Featuring many models and configurations, expanding the possibilities to the full. In 1958 Jack Heuer, Edouard’s son, joined the company. In 1962 the first generation of Autavia was launched. Famously worn in the 1970s by Formula One drivers such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Emerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti, and many more. LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A. offered a bid in 1999 that was accepted by TAG Heuer.
