Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Omega box or Omega papers. The watch comes paired on its original Omega bracelet with signed folding clasp. The watch is from Circa. 1982 and is in worn, vintage condition as you can see from the photos. Overall, however, the watch is very good for its age. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Formerly known as the La Generale Watch Co. it was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. In 1903 they renamed the company Omega until 1982 when they officially changed their name to Omega SA. They are today part of the Swiss Swatch Group.

Omega first introduced the Constellation in 1952. At the time it was Omega's flagship timepiece. The first models had a Cal. 354 bumper movement in them. Later in 1955 Omega introduced the Automatic Cal. 50x, followed in 1959 by the Cal. 55x (no date) and 56x (date) versions. Many of the Constellations came with pie-pan dials, diamond indexes, and fancy lug configurations. All the gold Constellations of that time have the Observatory of Geneva hand engraved on the back. The stainless steel and stainless steel/gold versions had a gold medallion on the back with the Observatory of Geneva. The eight stars above the Observatory stand for the many exploits of Omega in the world Chronometer competition.

In 1982 Omega introduced the Constellation Manhattan family of watches. Designed by Carol Didisheim and patented in 1985.Ā Our Omega Constellation dates from 1982. Its stainless steel rectangular case has a 5mm profile. The case is polished and brushed with transition lines between them elegantly ending at the integrated bracelet. On the right side, a signed crown. A polished chamfered bezel holds a flat crystal. Outer silver batons on a black raised border.Ā Its sunray silver dial has applied Roman numeral and baton indexes marking the hours, each lining up perfectly with the outer batons. Batonā€™s hands are complimented with a tapered second hand.Ā  On the reverse a screwed-down case back. Inside a Quartz Omega Cal. 1418 created in 1982, 7 Jewels Chronometer Certified, High precision quartz movement. Fitted on its original Omega stainless steel integrated bracelet with a signed deployment clasp.

Personal Note

Another piece that sold before it had a chance to make it to the website. The watch is super thin and sits beautifully against the wrist, the way I describe this watch is it is like a bracelet that just so happens to have a watch dial on it. A piece of jewelry for the wrist.
