The Watch

Here we have a rare 1976 Sterling Silver Zenith with a 24mm .925 Sterling Silver case that delicately flows over your wrist with its integrated .925 Silver Bracelet 1885/2 attached to the case for a perfect jewellery-like fit. A domed crystal sits above a champagne-coloured dial, slim-applied batons painted in black mark the hours, two elegant stick hands sit centrally, and at 12 o’clock we have the Zenith motif complete this simple sophisticated dress watch. On the reverse a snap-off case back, inside a manually wound Zenith Cal. 1740, 17 jewels. The watch comes paired with its textured integrated 17mm .925 Silver Bracelet 1885/2, attached to the case for a perfect jewellery-like fit, with a signed jewellery clasp.

Personal Note

I am a huge fan of integrated bracelets, especially with a beautiful design and in .925 sterling silver like this amazing ladies' Zenith from 1976! Inside it is powered by a manually wound Zenith Cal. 1740 and features a wonderful champagne-toned dial which has aged perfectly, all cased in .925 Sterling Silver! It is like a piece of jewellery on the wrist that just so happens to have a watch attached to it.

The Brand

Zenith was founded in 1865 by 22-year-old watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot. Their manufacturing was based in Le Locle Switzerland. Famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who was the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911 and the North Pole in 1926, wore Zenith watches on his expeditions. In 1999 Zenith was purchased by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) joining brands like TAG and Hublot. Zenith is one of the only Swiss manufacturers to still produce their in-house movements. Their most recognised movement is the El Primero; it was released in 1969, went into production in 1975, and was re-issued in 1986.
