The Watch

The Swiss watch company Tissot from Le Locle, Switzerland, was established in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile. Under Charles-Emile’s direction, they manufactured pocket watches with parts from Russia and the United States. In 1915, the company began producing wristwatches. Between 1920 and 1977, Tissot produced its own movements. In 1930 to survive the 1929 crash and economic crisis they entered into an agreement with Omega to form the SSIH Group which 53 years later became the Swatch Group.

This 1974 Tissot Seastar has a 37 mm tonneau-shaped stainless steel case with polished surfaces. A polished beveled bezel with a domed crystal sits above a 2 tone dial with the outer track in blue with silver applied faceted baton indexes for the hours. A textured silver inner with vertical lines. A date window at 3 o’clock. Baton hands with lume infill complete the dynamic dial. On the reverse, we have a screw-down case back. Inside an Automatic Tissot Cal. 2481, 24 Jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. Fitted on its original very substantial integrated stainless steel bracelet which gives the watch its nickname of “Lobster” as it resembles a lobster shell, really funky design and so 1970s. It tapers down to a folding signed clasp for a comfortable fit.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Tissot box and original Tissot signed paperwork including a full-sized bracelet and original swing tag. The watch comes paired on its original "Lobster" steel bracelet with Tissot signed folding clasp. The watch was purchased in 1974 as signed on the original paperwork which comes with the watch, it has definitely been worn as is showing some signs of wear on the case and bracelet, the dial has developed a lovely even patina. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof warranty.

Personal Note

If you know me, you know I LOVE 1970s design and this is as unapologetically 70s as they come! The design and heft of this piece are incredible on the wrist and you certainly know you are wearing it. And for one to come with its original box and paperwork too, including a full-sized bracelet and swing tag too! I highly doubt you'll find another, so why wait?
