More Information

Description

Here we have a Tissot Seastar Cushion Case Reference 41-42584-2 with a 37mm stainless steel cushion-shaped case that captures the bold, distinctive design language of the early 1970s. The broad contours of the "C-shape" case flow effortlessly over your wrist with a modern, oversized "Jumbo" presence that defies traditional vintage proportions. A compact lug-to-lug length of 40.5mm and an ultra-slim case thickness of just 9.5mm reinforce this comfortable fit on the wrist. On the right side sits a classic signed crown. The integrated smooth, polished bezel frames a clean crystal that sits above a beautiful silver sunburst dial. Applied steel polished baton indexes with Tritium pips play with the light as you rotate your wrist. The long steel baton hands filled with Tritium are complemented by a sweeping central second hand. At 12 o’clock, the “TISSOT” branding rests alongside the vintage T-logo, balanced by “SEASTAR” printed at 6 o’clock. On the reverse, a screw-down case back protects the heart of the watch, a manually wound Tissot Cal. 781-1 movement beating at 18,000 beats per hour with 17 jewels. It comes paired with a well-suited 18mm leather strap and pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Tissot box.

Personal Note

This is exactly the sort of vintage watch I love to come across. The cushion case is quintessential 1970s design, bold, elegant, and incredibly wearable, and it's a reminder that you don't need to spend a fortune to own something with real character. What makes this example even more appealing is the value on offer. You're getting a beautifully designed manually wound Tissot from one of Switzerland's great manufacturers, complete with its lovely original Tissot presentation box, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find and adds a nice touch for collectors. If you're looking to dip your toes into vintage watches or simply want something a little different from the norm, this Seastar makes a fantastic case for itself. Add it to your collection today!

About Tissot

The Swiss luxury watch company Tissot from Le Locle, Switzerland, was established in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile. Under Charles-Emile’s direction, they manufactured pocket watches with parts from Russia and the United States. In 1915, the company began producing wrist watches. Between 1920 and 1977, Tissot produced its movements. In 1930, to survive the 1929 crash and economic crisis, they agreed with Omega to form the SSIH Group, which 53 years later became the Swatch Group.
