The watch comes with our 12-Months Non-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Citizen founded the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918. The name originates from a pocket watch it produced in 1924. The Mayor of Tokyo, Mr. Shimpei Goto, named the watch "CITIZEN" in the hopes the watch would become a worldwide success.

Our Citizen Homer was issued to Japanese Railway staff during the 1960s and ’70s. It has a 36mm polished round case with tapered lugs. A lug to lug length of 44mm and a thickness of 10mm ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist. The polished bezel holds a domed crystal above a white dial. Arabic numeral indices mark the hours, and an outer minute track has lume pips. Dauphine’s hands with lume infill are complemented by a tapered center second hand. On the right side is a signed crown with “CTZ”. Text is finely printed, indicating “Citizen Homer” “Second Setting”. On the reverse, a polished snap-on case back with engraved Japanese characters and reference numbers. Inside a Manually Wound Citizen Cal. 0911, 21 jewels, 18,000 beats per hour. The movement has hacking functionality for accurate timekeeping, which was essential for the Railways. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

A super nice and rarely seen watch from Citizen, one with real history and still at an incredibly affordable price! It's also great to see a watch from period having hacking, an often rare feature but one that was essential and part of the "tool" aspect of this watch allowing the wearer to sync to the accurate time, important for the railway!
