Description

Here we have a 1970s Zodiac Hermetic Aerospace Jet 24 Hour with a 34mm round stainless steel case that sits on your wrist comfortably thanks to the flat-ended tapered lugs. On the right side is a signed push/pull crown sitting slightly recessed. A concave smooth bezel holds a domed crystal above a black dial, an outer minute track has Tritium pips surrounding white 24-hour indices and red markers for the hours, slender sword hands filled with Tritium are complemented by a tapered sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock, we have the Zodiac motif, “Hermetic”, underneath; and at 6 o’clock “Aerospace Jet”. Named after its unusual and clever water-resistant system found on the Zodiac Sea Wolf. On the reverse, a solid case back with the details engraved around its edge, inside a manually wound Zodiac Cal. 721, 17 jewel movement beating at a leisurely 18,800 beats per hour, made for Zodiac by FHF and is the same as their Cal.72. The watch comes paired with a suitable 18mm aftermarket suede strap and pin buckle.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and, therefore, comes with no original Zodiac box or original Zodiac paperwork. It is paired with a suitable 18mm aftermarket suede strap and pin buckle. The watch is from Circa. 1970s and is in used, vintage condition, but overall in fair condition for its age, as you can see from the photographs. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

I have purchased and sold many vintage Zodiacs over the years but this is my first Hermetic Aerospace Jet featuring a true 24-hour dial with the hour hand rotating once every 24 hours as opposed to twice, this definitely takes an extra second to recognise the time, but once worn for a while you'll be amazed by how quickly you become accustomed to telling the time this way. At 34mm it wears beautifully on the wrist and the gloss black dial goes under the radar in the best of ways. Do not hesitate to add this wonderful vintage watch to your collection today!

About Zodiac

Zodiac was founded in 1882 by Ariste Calame. Their headquarters can be found in Locle, Switzerland. The name Zodiac was patented in 1908 when he started to manufacture wristwatches. In 1953, we saw the introduction of the Sea Wolf, one of the first commercial purpose-built dive watches. On October 1, 2001, Fossil Inc. purchased the worldwide rights to the Zodiac brand name for approximately $4.7 million.
