Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Zenith box and Zenith paperwork. The watch comes paired with its original Zenith leather strap with signed buckle and swing tags. The watch is from Circa. 1970s and is in "New Old Stock" condition, though these have been in storage for 50 odd years so storage marks may be seen. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Zenith was founded in 1865 by 22-year-old watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot. Their manufacturing was based in Le Locle Switzerland. Famously Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who was the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911 and the North Pole in 1926, wore Zenith watches on his expeditions. In 1999 Zenith was purchased by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) joining brands like TAG and Hublot. Zenith is one of the only Swiss manufacturers to still produce their own in-house movements. Their most recognised movement is the El Primero it was released in 1969, went into production in 1975 and was re-issued in 1986.

This NOS Zenith XL-Tronic has a 41mm stainless steel square case that tapers at the lugs. Its sides are chamfered with crisp lines. The square crystal protects a silver dial with vertical line texture. An outer minute sloping chapter ring gives the watch depth. Baton indexes with lume tips mark the hours. At 3 o’clock a framed day/date window. Slim baton hands have lume infill. On the reverse a screw-down case back. Inside a Quartz Zenith Cal. 51.5 the 7 Jewel movement has a quick set date and hacking. Fitted on its original 22mm Zenith leather strap with signed buckle.

Personal Note

When the opportunity to acquire 7 New Old Stock Zeniths came up I jumped at the opportunity, when they arrived it was difficult to even part with any of them! But here we are, this is a business and I can't keep everything despite how hard I try! THis one did sell before it hit the website.
