The Watch

Here we have a 1970s Heuer Chronograph Incabloc 1611 Valjoux 7765 with a 38mm tonneau-shaped brushed stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with flat-ended lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 44mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm ensures a comfortable fit. Down the right side, we have the piston chronograph pushers and a signed crown in the centre, and a smooth polished bezel holds a domed crystal above a dynamic white dial. An outer Tachymeter scale chapter ring surrounds baton indexes filled in black marking the hours, at 12 o’clock a 30-minute register, at 3 o’clock a framed date window and at 9 o’clock a small seconds register, each black outline filled in blue with white markings, slender baton hands are tipped with Tritium and complemented by a tapered orange chronograph hand. At 6 o’clock we have the Heuer motif completing this distinctive quintessential 1970s sports tool watch. On the reverse, a screw-down solid case back engraved with the details of the watch, inside a manually wound Valjoux Cal. 7765, 17 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this cam-switching chronograph movement has a quick-set date for your convenience. The watch comes paired with an 18mm leather strap and signed Heuer pin buckle.

Personal Note

Some watches stop you in your tracks and you take a moment just to sit there and admire them, this beautiful Heuer Chronograph from the 1970s is one of those watches! In near-new old stock condition and featuring a perfect dial with highlights of blue and red throughout, it just draws you in closer and closer. Then you put it on the wrist, wow! Snap this up before I continue talking and end up keeping it!

The Brand

Edouard Heuer founded The Heuer Watch Company in 1860 in St. Imier, Switzerland. Chronographs have been the mainstay for Heuer and later TAG Heuer. They featured many models and configurations, expanding the possibilities to the full. In 1958 Jack Heuer, Edouard’s son, joined the company. In 1962 the first generation of Autavia was launched. Famously worn in the 1970s by Formula One drivers such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Emerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti, and many more. LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A. offered a bid in 1999 that was accepted by TAG Heuer.
