The Watch

Here we have a beautifully sculpted 1968 Bulova with a curvaceous 16.5mm 9ct White Gold case that flows over your wrist thanks to its delicate flowing 9ct White Gold 9mm Integrated mesh bracelet, and a lug-to-lug length of 16.5mm and a case thickness of just 7mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is a slim crown and a domed crystal sits above a silver dial. Applied baton indexes mark the hours, slender hands sit majestically in the centre, and at 12 o’clock we have the Bulova motif completing this jewellery-like sophisticated dress watch. On the reverse a snap-off case back, inside a manually wound Bulova Cal. 5AR, beating at a leisurely 18,000 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with its 9ct White Gold 9mm integrated mesh link bracelet secured by an attractive jewellery-style folding clasp, the bracelet will fit up to a 6.9-inch wrist and comes with its Bulova presentation box but no paperwork.

Personal Note

There is no denying integrated bracelets are finally getting appreciated as they should be, but I really do believe we still have a long way to go! This beautiful Bulova from 1968 in 9ct white gold with its integrated textured 9ct white gold bracelet is the perfect example of that, a true piece of jewellery on the wrist that just so happens to tell the time!

The Brand

Bulova Company was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova. Based in New York, they moved to 580 Fifth Avenue in 1920. In 1923 Bulova Watch Inc was introduced. 1927, on the rooftop of 580 Fifth Avenue, he set up an observatory to be able to determine the universal time precisely. In 1941, Joseph Bulova decided to increase his company's reach by utilising television advertising, producing the world’s first television advert, it was the first time that commercial advertising was allowed on US television. He developed standardised watch production and was the first to create a fully electronic watch using tuning-fork technology. Bulova has collaborated with many people and organisations including Lindbergh and NASA. During the very first moonwalk, a Bulova timer was placed in the sea of tranquillity. The company was bought by Japan’s Citizen Watch Company in 2008.
