Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Omega box or paperwork. The watch comes paired on a nice fitting brown leather strap with a reproduction Omega buckle. The watch is from Circa. 1966 and is sold in worn, vintage condition, but overall this is in fantastic condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Formerly known as the La Generale Watch Co. Founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. In 1903 they renamed the company Omega until 1982 when they officially changed their name to Omega SA. They are part of the Swiss Swatch Group.

The Seamaster was first introduced in 1948 to celebrate Omega’s 100th Anniversary. It was an immediate success and is Omega’s longest-running model. Based on the waterproof designs used during World War 2, it was improved upon with the addition of an “O” ring gasket which improved its water resistance. Omega’s first diving record came in 1955 when diver Gordon McLean reached a depth of 62.5 meters (205 ft) in Australia. The engineers were so confident of the durability that they strapped one to the outside of an aircraft that flew over the North Pole in 1956.

This 1966 Omega Seamaster has a 35mm round stainless steel case. A lug to lug length of 42.5mm with gently curved tapered lugs ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. Expertly polished and brushed surfaces catch the light as you rotate your wrist. On the right side, a signed crown. A flat polished bezel holds the domed crystal above a silver sunburst dial with chamfered applied baton indexes, Onyx filled center marking the hours. At 3 o’clock a framed date window. Steel Dauphine’s hands have Onyx filling. A tapered center seconds hand completes the attractive dial. Text is precisely printed at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock respectively. On the screw-down case back we have the embossed Hippocampus in the center. Inside an Automatic Omega Cal. 562, 24 Jewels, 19,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap and reproduction buckle

Personal Note

The always classic Omega Seamaster, we have had plenty in and we will likely get plenty more in! But each year they keep creeping up in price, especially when they are found in fantastic condition like this one. A stunning dial, beautifully refinished case, overall just elegant and beautiful on the wrist. If you haven't owned a Seamaster yet, now is the time.
