The Watch
Rodania was first introduced in 1930 by Hans Baumgartner in the town of Grenchen Switzerland. It had two centers of export, one in Brussels and the other in Montreal in Canada. In 1964 Rodania went to Antarctica where it was worn by the expedition commander during Belgium's sixth such expedition. Today Rodania remains an independent Swiss watch brand. This mid-1960s model has a 37mm stainless steel case, it has a slim profile and tapering lugs making it a comfortable fit on the wrist. Polished sides and brushed surfaces provide a durable finish. Friction fit stainless steel bezel with 60-minute marking. Domed crystal sits above a matt black dial. Red outlined baton indexes mark the hours. At 3 o’clock a framed day-date window. Broad sword hands with a distinctive arrow seconds hand with lume tip. Screw down crown and case back. Inside an Automatic AS 2066 17 Jewels beating at 21600 Beats per hour. Fitted on an 18mm Nato strap.
