Description

Here we have a 1960s Marc Nicolet Skin Diver Date Automatic ETA 2472, featuring a 36mm stainless steel case, thick tapered lugs with a lug-to-lug length of 45mm and a case thickness of 12mm, ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. The Skin Diver design was adopted by many brands, including Wittnauer and Elgin, during this time period. On the right side is a large crown, a friction-fit stainless steel dive bezel with deep engraving that holds a domed crystal above a black dial. An outer minute track with 12, 6 and 9 Arabic numerals and baton indexes marks the hours, all thickly coated in luminance. At 3 o’clock, a date window. The arrow and Alpha hands have lume infill complemented by an arrow-point second hand. At 12 o’clock, we have the Marc Nicolet motif and “Skin Diver” underneath, and at 6 o’clock “, 17 Jewels Incabloc Automatic” completes this dynamic “Skin Diver”. On the reverse is a screw-down case back, inside an automatic ETA Cal. 2472, 17 jewels, beating at a leisurely 18,000 beats per hour. It comes paired with a 19mm brown leather strap that matches nicely.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original box or original paperwork. It comes paired with a 19mm brown leather strap that matches nicely. The watch is from Circa. 1960s and is in worn, vintage condition, as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

This example has the most perfect gloss black dial and lume that has aged to perfection on the dial and the hands, something we rarely see. Then we move the case, unpolished and sharp as the day it was made, and still featuring its original bezel and signed crown. All of this comes in at a 36mm case, which packs way more of a punch on the wrist than you would think. This is another watch that just elevates to another level when paired with the right strap. Add this vintage gem to your collection today!

About Marc Nicolet

Marc Nicolet is a relation of the famous Nicolet family of watchmakers, who started their business in Tramelan, Switzerland, in 1875, famous for producing grand complication pocket watches. After Armand Nicolet died in 1939, his son, Willy, ran the business, establishing it as one of the largest watchmakers in Switzerland. During the 1970s and 80s quartz crisis, their reputation and contacts meant they survived whilst many other companies folded. In 1987, Willy met Rolando Braga, an Italian watch enthusiast who helped drive the company forward. Today, the company runs under the brand name Armand Nicolet.
