Sometimes a watch comes across your desk, and you know you will likely never see another one. This was one of those watches. Unfortunately, at the time, I couldn't justify keeping it, but as time went on and it didn't sell, I decided it was worth taking it off sale and enjoying it myself. Amazing how it goes sometimes.
A wonderfully characterful 1960s Girard-Perregaux, this piece stood out to me immediately for its sculptural square case and unmistakable Art Deco influence. The 18ct pink gold has developed a beautiful warmth over time, while the textured, radiating case top and onyx markers give it a depth you don’t often see. The case features a cleverly integrated date window at 3 o'clock that ties everything together. It’s a watch that feels considered from every angle. Inside, the Gyromatic automatic movement—developed in collaboration with several notable Swiss makers—adds another layer of interest, capturing the spirit of innovation from the era. Distinctive, well-proportioned, and quietly bold—this is exactly the kind of piece that rewards a closer look and earns its place in the Vault.
