Here we have a 1960s GALLET Multichron 45 Chronograph Valjoux 7730 with a 35mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with long tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 44mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm ensures a comfortable fit. We have the piston-style chronograph pushers down the right side and a large crown in the centre. A smooth bezel holds a domed crystal above a silver dial. An outer tachymeter scale, a minute track and an inner Telemeter scale in blue, each precisely printed. Large Arabic numerals are infilled with Tritium marking the hours, at 3 o’clock a 45-minute register, which gives the watch its name MultiChron 45 and at 9 o’clock the small seconds register, each with an engine-turned pattern and fine hands, elegant slender sword hands infilled with Tritium and complemented by a tapered chronograph hand. At 12 o’clock, we have the Gallet motif completing this vintage multi-scaled bicompax chronograph. On the reverse a brushed and polished case back, inside a manually wound Valjoux 7730, 17 jewels, beating at a leisurely 18,800 beats per hour; this cam-shifting chronograph movement was originally the Venus 188 introduced in 1948 until they were bought by Valjoux in 1966 changing the name to the 7730, it remained in production from 1966 until 1973 and was a base used by many brands such as Panerai, Breitling, IWC, and Heuer. The watch comes paired with a suitable 19mm strap.
