Here we have a rare and exceptionally sophisticated, vintage 1950s Seiko Lord Marvel 14K Gold-Filled Manual 35mm J14068. Launched in 1958, the Lord Marvel represented a milestone in Japanese horological engineering, earning fame as Seiko's very first high-end luxury watch line. A 35mm 14K gold-filled case provides a warm, luxurious vintage aesthetic, while a well-proportioned profile thickness of 9.5mm and a lug-to-lug length of 43mm allow the watch to wear with commanding yet classic presence. On the right side, a robust, low-profile push-pull crown preserves the watch’s fluid, streamlined silhouette. The distinct, faceted lugs flow gracefully from the case body, emphasising the watch's premium luxury philosophy. A domed acrylic crystal sits above a minimalist white dial that exemplifies mid-century sophistication. An outer minute track surrounds applied, incredibly elegant gold facet indexes that catch the light with subtle brilliance. Elegant, razor-sharp Dauphine hands sweep gracefully across the dial, reinforcing the refined aesthetic. Below the 12 o'clock position, the "Seiko Lord Marvel" script name is beautifully hand-engraved, while the jewels text sits cleanly above the 6 o'clock position. The eight-pointed star, also known historically as the "Special Dial" (SD) mark, indicates that the dial is crafted from premium, precious materials and indicates that the indices and hands are made of solid gold. On the reverse, a solid snap-on case back protects the historic manually wound Seikosha Calibre 5922 movement. This specialised, high-grade calibre features precise engineering and beats at a traditional frequency, showcasing Seiko's early expertise in high-end horological component design. It comes paired with an 18mm premium black leather strap, secured by a gold-plated pin buckle.
