Description

Here we have a charismatic 1950s Exacta Chronograph Landeron 51, featuring a round 37 mm gold-plated case that gently curves over your wrist, complemented by tapered lugs. Its curvaceous flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 44mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm, ensuring a comfortable fit. Down the right side, we have the rectangular pushers and a coin-edged crown in the centre, its stepped smooth bezel holding a domed crystal above a stunning sunburst silver bicompax dial. An outer blue Tachymeter scale surrounds a minute track, and a red Telemetric scale is precisely executed. Gold-toned Arabic numerals and spearhead indexes have a sheen to them that plays with the light, marking the hours; at 3 o’clock, a recessed 30-minute register and at 9 o’clock, the running seconds register are each gold-toned with concentric circular patterns. Elegant gold-plated hands are complemented by a teardrop counterweighted chronograph hand. At noon, the Exacta motif is displayed, and “Incabloc” is shown at 6 o’clock, completing this amazing vintage bicompax. On the reverse, a snap-off case back houses a Manually Wound Landeron Cal. 51, featuring 17 jewels and beating at a leisurely 18,000 beats per hour. It comes paired with a 19mm well-suited leather strap.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original box or paperwork. It comes paired with an 18mm well-suited leather strap. The watch is from Circa. 1950s and is sold in worn, vintage condition, with an even patina, as shown. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

I do love an affordable vintage chronograph, and some of the most affordable often use Landeron movements, like this Exacta here with an early Landeron calibre 51, a great movement that clearly has stood the test of time. Coming in a 37mm gold-plated case, this watch packs a punch on the wrist, surprising for the 1950s, where most watches were much smaller, typically 35mm at most. I would not hesitate to add this watch to your collection today, whilst these vintage chronographs remain relatively affordable!
