Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Omega box or Omega paperwork. The watch comes paired with an aftermarket Suede strap that suits the watch nicely. The watch is from Circa. 1944 and comes in worn, vintage condition with signs of age and wear throughout, patina on the dial showing age. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Formerly known as the La Generale Watch Co. it was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. In 1903 they renamed the company Omega until 1982 when they officially changed their name to Omega SA. They are part of the Swiss Swatch Group.

This 1944 Omega was made towards the end of World War 2. A very similar looking watch was the Omega Suveran, introduced in the 1940s to help the Swedish government break their dependency on Germany. The government sold the watch to its citizens thereby directly funding themselves. The 1944 Omega 30T2 has a 35mm stainless steel case, slim in profile, and has tapering lugs. Its lug to lug length of 42mm will ensure you a comfortable fit. On the right a button crown. The thin bezel holds a domed acrylic crystal. The grey dial has an outer minute track with lumed Arabic numeral indexes that have turned black overtime marking the hours. At 6 o’clock a sub-seconds register. Elegant Syringe hands have lume infill. On the reverse a screw-down case back. Inside a Manually Wound Omega Cal. 30T2-SC, a Swiss 15 jewel movement highly regarded by collectors. and industry for its reliability and accuracy. The Cal. 30 series of movements were first produced in 1939.  Fitted on 18mm quick release leather strap.

Personal Note

I always aim to have a few vintage Omegas on the website for sale, but I still like to hunt for great examples or interesting pieces, this is exactly one of those. The patina is absolutely stunning, granted you either love or you hate patina, I feel this patina really adds to the watch, it is incredibly difficult to capture how beautiful it is via photos, so please feel free to book a viewing in our Clerkenwell, London office and take a look for yourself!
