Here we have a 1930s Zodiac Chronograph Landeron 47 Salmon Dial with a curvaceous 34mm brushed stainless steel round case made by Sandviken, this Swedish steel company has produced quality watch cases and other specialised equipment since 1862 and is still operating today. The curve of the case sits comfortably on your wrist thanks to the tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 42mm and a case thickness of 11mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. Down the right side, we have the chrome-plated chronograph pushers and a large coin-edged crown in the centre, complete with a monopusher. The smooth bevel-edged bezel holds a domed mineral crystal above a dynamic rich toned Salmon bi-compax dial. An outer Telemeter scale in red ink surrounds a cream minute chapter ring, and Radium coated Roman numerals mark the hours; in the centre intersecting the registers, we have three further scales, including a Tachymetre. These scales were an important tool used in the military and other applications. At 3 o’clock, a 30-minute register, and at 9 o’clock, a small seconds register, each precisely marked, elegant, thermally blued leaf hands are complemented by a chronograph hand with teardrop counterweight. The Zodiac motif sits at 12 o’clock, and “Suisse” is printed at 6 o’clock, completing this striking vintage three-pusher chronograph. On the reverse, a snap-off case back, inside Landeron Calibre 47, 17 jewels beating at a leisurely 18,000 beats per hour. This movement was the first cam-actuated chronograph introduced in 1937. The three pushers start, stop, and reset on the crown. The initial ebauche, or movement blank, was initially developed by Charles Hahn & Cie., which was a part of Ebauches SA. The chronograph components for this ebauche were provided by Dèpraz. It comes paired with an 18mm leather strap and pin buckle.
