Henry Sandoz in 1870 founded Henri Sandoz & Cie. 

In 1890 in partnership with the Schwob brothers he established Cyma at Malleray near Tavannes, Switzerland. Brand names used during this time included Tavannnes-Cyma, Bijou Watch Co., Tacy Watch Co. and Lisca.

Just before 1900, he took over the Odin factory in Bienne, Switzerland. In 1920 Hermann Sandoz joined his father, renaming the business Henry Sandoz & Fils.

Business continued to grow and in 1926 they opened a larger factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds. During the 1950s they marketed themselves as Sandoz of Switzerland. 

Specialising in Ultra-thin watches during the 1950s. In 1955 the Cal.HSF 55 was the thinnest movement and again in 1959 the Cal. HSF 56 was the thinnest automatic movement. They continued through the 1970s becoming part of Societe Des Garde-Temps SA alongside brands like Elgin, Invicta and Waltham.

Today Sandoz is split up into 4 separate brands, Sandoz Singapore, Sandoz Hong Kong, Sandoz Swiss, and Sandoz Spain.
