Brand Directory: Nacar

The Nacar brand was founded by two Turkish Armenian Nacaroglu brothers Ohannes and Kevork. In 1921 they established the Zila Watch company and created the Nacar brand (from their surname Nacaroglu) producing their first watch in 1921. Ohannes residing in Bienne Switzerland and Kevork in Istanbul selected their target markets to be Turkey, Lebanon and Syria. The Nacar watch entered Turkey in 1929.

The partnership was dissolved on 27 January 1855 and James William continued under the name 'J. W. Benson'. James William Benson died on 7 October 1878, aged 52, and his sons James, Alfred and Arthur took over the running of the business.
