Hublot history begins with its’ creator – Carlo Crocco, an Italian who was inspired by his family of watchmakers. He designed his first watch in 1967., and in 1980., he set up the Hublot company.

In late 2003, Jean-Claude Biver, who was then president of Swatch Group's Omega division, had a meeting with Carlo Crocco, and in May 2004, Biver became CEO, also becoming a board member and minority shareholder in Hublot Watches.

Immediately Biver created a new flagship collection that was shown in Basel in April 2005, with the introduction of the Hublot "Big Bang" chronograph. It was an immediate hit. A few months later, in November 2005, the Big Bang chronograph was awarded internationally, receiving the "2005 Design Prize" in the "Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix", the "Sports Watch Prize" at the "Watch of the Year" in Japan, and the Middle Eastern Prize for the "Best Oversized Watch" at the Editor’s Choice "Watch of the Year" in Bahrain. Through the innovation and foresight of Biver in 2004, the brand's sales went from 24 million Swiss francs to close to 100 million Swiss francs in 2006.

In February 2007, Hublot opened its first mono-brand store in Paris, in the Rue Saint-Honoré.

In April 2008 it was announced that LVMH group had acquired Hublot from founder Carlo Crocco for an undisclosed fee.

As of 2019, Hublot had 169 Boutiques.
