Corum was founded by Gaston Ries and René Bannwart in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1955.
In 1960 Rene Bannwart created the instantly recognisable Admiral’s Cup watch with its inspiration taken from the international yachting regatta at Cowes on the Isle of Wight off southern England. Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club. Corum has supported the race up to its last race in 2003. Since that time Corum called this range of watches the Admiral’s Collection.
