The Watch

Here we have a 2021 Habring2 Foudroyante-Felix "White" Manually Wound with a 38.5mm stainless steel round case and long slim drilled lugs that curve over your wrist with a lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 12mm, ensuring a comfortable fit. The elegant profile has polished and brushed surfaces that transition perfectly, capturing the light as you move your wrist. Its polished bezel holds a curved sapphire crystal. On the right side is a crown with double seals; between the lugs at 6 o’clock, you will find the consecutive engraved serial number; this one is No.#16. The white dial has a granular texture, an outer minute track has a “12” alongside black slim stick indices marking the hours, and at 9 o’clock, a distinctive "flashing seconds" (Foudroyante) that rotates once per second, adding a dynamic motion to the dial and elegant blued steel slim stick hands complemented by a patented dead beat (jumping second) centre seconds finish off this classic understated timepiece. On the reverse an exhibition case back with sapphire crystal, inside an in-house manually wound Habring2 Cal. A11MF, 23 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this refined movement is finely finished with blue screws, polished edges and perlage. An antimagnetic escapement with a Carl Haas hairspring to Chronometer standards. KIF shock protection complies with DIN and NIHS standards. The watch comes paired with two Habring² 20mm leather straps and also comes with its Habring² presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

Habring2 produces some of the most impressive watches at this price point and I'm amazed they aren't as sought after as some other independent brands as I feel they punch well above their price. This Foudroyante-Felix features an impressive second hand at 9 o'clock that spins completely once every second and the main second hand jumps from marker to marker with absolute pin-point accuracy every second! Be sure to check out the video of this one to really appreciate how spectacular that complication is!

The Brand

Maria and Richard Habring founded Habring² in 1997 in Volkermarkt, Austria. Richard Habring's career started as a watchmaker at IWC under the mentorship of Günter Blümlein. He had a major role in the development of the double chronograph. With help from his wife, they are creating watches that continue the remarkable horology of Austria.
