The Watch
Here we have a 2018 Halios Seaforth II Abyss Blue Automatic with a 40mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with thick tapered flat-ended lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 46.5mm and a case thickness of 12mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. Polished chamfered edges and brushed surfaces transition with crisp edges; on the right side, is a signed screw-down crown that has deep knurling for extra grip protected by crown guards. A rotating unidirectional bezel protected by a blue sapphire 60-minute insert, giving it the appearance of the bakelite bezels of the past that holds a double domed vintage-style sapphire crystal above a Blue dial, an outer minute track has applied baton indexes infilled with Super-LumiNova BGW9 marking the hours, and at 6 o’clock a date window. Baton hands are tipped with Super-LumiNova BGW9 and complemented by a sweeping second hand; at 12 o'clock, we have the Halios motif with Seaforth printed underneath. On the reverse, a screw-down case back, inside an automatic ETA 2824-2, 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this workhorse movement has hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. It comes paired with a 20mm black rubber strap and signed pin buckle, and the watch comes with its Halios pouch.
Personal Note
In today's watch world, it feels like there is an alarming amount of brands in the sub £1,000 price bracket, especially on the pre-owned market, and it can become a little overwhelming. This is why at KibbleWatches I am to highlight some of the best that is out there and Halios is one of those brands. This is the Halios Seaforth II with the 'Abyss Blue' dial which is the perfect name for the dial colour, in most lights it is an incredibly dark blue, bordering on black, and if you catch the right light it truly pops. I would not hesitate to add this fantastic watch to your collection today!
The Brand
Jason Lim, a lifelong watch enthusiast, started Halios in 2009, inspired by small, water-ready sports watches of the '60s. Their watches are manufactured in Asia, and the final testing and quality control are carried out in Vancouver, B,C, Canada. The movements are sourced from either Japan or Switzerland, depending on the model and availability. Halios has a long-standing online presence on a particular watch forum dedicated to the dive community and continues to build its reputation with hardcore enthusiasts and first-time watch buyers.
