The Watch
Here, we have a curvaceous 2000s Franck Muller Galet Mini 18ct White Gold Quartz 3002 with a 24mm soft-edged rectangular 18ct White Gold case. The pebble-like profile leads to a lug-to-lug length of 32.5mm and a case thickness of just 7mm, ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is a coin-edged signed crown. The domed, curved sapphire crystal sits above a striking sunburst silver Guilloche dial, large black Arabic numeral hour markers radiate from the centre, and sculpted thermally blued hands sit majestically in the centre; at noon, we have the Frank Muller motif, and at 6 o’clock, “Galet” is French for pebble completing this sophisticated two-hand dress watch. On the reverse, there is a screwed-down case back with the watch's details engraved, inside a quality Quartz movement. The watch comes paired with its 14mm leather strap and 18ct White Gold pin buckle and comes with its original Franck Muller presentation box.
Personal Note
Whilst this Franck Muller Galet Mini, reference 3002, housed in 18ct white gold, is often advertised as a "ladies' watch" I personally think the 24mm by 32.5mm looks elegant on my 7-inch wrist and I would happily rock this. That is the beauty of watches to me, there is no need for labels, if you like how it looks on your wrist and it's comfortable, then wear and enjoy it. If you are considering this one for yourself do not hesitate to book an appointment to see how it looks on your wrist!
The Brand
Franck Muller, the founder and former CEO of the luxury watch brand that bears his name, was born in 1958 with a natural curiosity for the art of watchmaking. He spent his childhood in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a city renowned for its watchmaking industry. At the age of 15, he enrolled in a watchmaking school to pursue his passion. After graduating from the Watchmaking School of Geneva, Franck Muller worked on repairing high-end pocket watches and with Patek Philippe watches under the guidance of an independent watchmaker named Svend Andersen. This experience allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the mechanisms that power complicated timepieces, inspiring him to establish his own workshop. In 1984, Franck Muller designed his first Tourbillon wristwatch, which was a technical marvel that showcased the full extent of his mastery. The watch was an instant hit, and he continued to receive requests for new timepieces, leading to the establishment of the House of Franck Muller in 1991 after meeting his co-founder Vartan Sirmakes. Franck Muller currently produces a limited number of watches each year for private clientele and has 570 official retailers worldwide, with five sites located in different parts of Switzerland.
