Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Baltic box and paperwork. The watch comes paired on its original Baltic leather strap with a signed buckle. The watch is from May 2018 and is sold in worn but very fair condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Ettiene Malec, a Frenchman, founded Baltic in 2017. The name comes from his father’s birthplace in northern Poland near the Baltic Sea. His inspiration came after finding a suitcase full of his late father's watches with a notebook full of details about the watches. He soon after started to meet other collectors and started to collect himself. Then, seeing the huge interest in vintage timepieces, he completed a Kickstarter campaign with the Baltic HMS 001 and a Bi-Compax 001. Each watch is hand-assembled in France near Besançon. Today the brand continues to grow through its social media presence and its website, to offer contemporary designed, vintage-inspired timepieces.

Our 2018 Baltic HMS 001 has a 38mm polished and brushed case reminiscent of the 1940’s watches. A lug to lug length of 46.5mm and a thickness of 12mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is a signed crown. The stepped bezel holds a domed hesalite crystal in keeping with the vintage aesthetic. A sunburst slate grey dial shimmers as you rotate your wrist. An outer minute track is precisely printed. Painted in white you have 12, 3, 6, and 9 with small discs in between. Elegant blue leaf hands are complemented by a tapered second hand. Text is minimalist which is pleasing to the eye with its simplicity. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back. Inside an Automatic Miyota 821A, 21 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on a 20mm Italian calf leather strap with a signed buckle.

Personal Note

Since Baltic released this line it has been very successful for them and a huge success in the pre-owned market to when they pop up, I highly doubt this one will be around long. So much for your money, especially when you see you are getting a beautifully designed watch with a workhorse automatic movement all under £200!
