This watch is sold as watch only and therefore comes with no Certina box or Certina paperwork. The watch comes paired on an aftermarket leather strap. The watch is from 1976 and is in worn condition as you can see, marks here and there but overall good condition for its age. The watch has no known service history but is running well and giving a good reading on the timegrapher, it will come with our 6-Month NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Certina introduced the DS-2 line in 1968 after the huge success of the DS line introduced in 1959 where over 300,000 watches had been sold up to 1968. This 1976 version has a 38mm stainless steel case with polished sides and brushed top surfaces with a razor-sharp edge. The crown is partially recessed with a twin-seal system. A domed acrylic crystal protects a gold dial. Large applied indexes with black detailing and lume pips mark the hours. At 3 o’clock a framed date window. Broad baton hands with lume infill complete with a center seconds hand. The screw-down case back has the Certina Turtle in the center of a deep circular wavy pattern. The Automatic Certina Cal. 25-651 is suspended on an elastic anti-shock ring, they also use extra strong screws in the assembly. Beating at 19,800 beats per hour. Fitted on an 18mm brown leather WatchGecko strap.

Personal Note

Certina have always been a great option for people getting into vintage watches for an affordable price, that hasn't changed but as interest in vintage watches continued to grow I do wonder how long this will last? This is a lovely looking example and that case back alone is seriously awesome!
