The Watch

Certina was founded in 1888 by Adolf and Alfred Kurth in Grenchen Switzerland. Here they made movements and supplies for the watch industry. Shortly afterwards they started making their own watches and grew their workforce from 3 to 250 in 1938 when they celebrated their 50th Anniversary. By 1955 they had 500 employees and were producing 1000 watches a day. This expansion continued in 1971 where they were producing 600,000 watches every year with a workforce of 900. In 1983 Certina became a member of the Swatch group which they continue to this day.

Our 1970s Ladies Certina Revelation Automatic "Dynamic" has a 31mm oval stainless steel cushion case. Reminiscent of the Omega Dynamic in styling and execution. Brushed and polished surfaces transition with crisp edges. A lug to lug length of 26.5mm and a thickness of 10mm ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist. On the right side, a recessed signed crown. A domed crystal sits above a silver dial. An outer minute track precisely printed with a deep blue inner circle of lume pips and painted white baton indices marking the hours. At 3 o’clock a framed date window. Elegant sword hands with lume tips complete the dial. Text is printed in black. Inside an Automatic Swiss Movement. The watch comes fitted with a grey leather strap.

Personal Note

One for the ladies who like a smaller watch! I get asked every so often why I don't do more "Ladies Watches" and the real answer is there isn't really a "Mans" watch a "Woman's" watch, there are just watches and most women are wearing larger watches and men smaller watches... So I do my best to not label watches as they really can be for everyone, that being said though these smaller vintage watches are mostly for women who want a smaller watch as it may be just too small for a gentleman.
