This Longines Admiral 5 Star features a very impressive Monocoque case, this means the watch case is made from 1 piece and opens through the front. This reference is also quite rare as most Admiral 5 Star's feature just a date, whereas this model features both a Day & a Date, the Day wheel is in French. This is quite an early reference too being from Circa. 1969/70. The dial features a beautiful vertical graining on a glossy dial, gold tone hands which match the 5 stars and the applied Longines logo. Also visible is the red outer minute track, very iconic for this reference, whilst faded it is still visible.
Points of Mention
This watch is sold as watch only and therefore comes with no original box or original paperwork. The watch comes with no service history but is running well and the push date mechanism is working as it should. The crowns are notorious on these references for a being a bit more sensitive, small amount of crown wobble is normal due to the distance of the stem for the push date feature, just be careful with the crown. The dial does have patina but is in overall good condition.
I think we will start to see vintage Longines watches get more traction over the next few years! At the end of the day they offer so much value for money and people can only sleep on them for so long, especially with Longines utilising their heritage range at retail!
