During 1976 at the height of the watch industry crisis namely the quartz revolution Raymond Weil decided to create his own watch brand. Based in Geneve Switzerland he travelled across Europe and became well known for his watches and Jewellery. Inspired by the music he made a series of successful collections. His roots began in 1949 where he joined Camy Watch S.A, he spent 26 years with them building his knowledge base ready for his own venture. In 2014 Raymond passed away. Today they have expanded into China, India and Russia. Continuing his legacy.
Here we have a Raymond Weil Tradition. Its 42mm round stainless steel case has polished and brushed surfaces. Tapering lugs have a lug to lug length of 49mm creating a comfortable fit on the wrist. On the right side, a screw-down signed crown protected by crown guards. A polished bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal. The black dial has guilloche patterning radiating across the dial. At 12 o'clock a double date window. At 6 o’clock the days of the week in a crescent with its own indicator hand. Applied lume coated Roman numeral indexes mark the hours. Elegant leaf hands are complemented with a needle centre seconds hand. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with RW engraved in the centre. Inside a Raymond Weil Swiss Quartz. Fitted on a 22mm Raymond Weil black leather strap with a signed buckle.
A great looking and super affordable dress watch from a brand with some great history, granted they are more one of the new kids on the block compared to the goliaths we usually see, but nonetheless they are a great brand offering great value, especially in pieces like this one.
