This Grand Seiko has everything for the travelling explorer. A power reserve indicator, GMT and date functions. With the incredibly beautiful Zaratsu polishing and brushed surfaces of the 41mm stainless steel case, expertly hand-finished to an outstanding degree. Curved sapphire crystal with double AR Coating. Champagne sunburst dial captures the light perfectly. The chamfered indexes have the same level of razor-sharp Zaratsu polishing creating real depth and character. Dauphine’s hands with a gliding seconds hand are complemented with an arrow hand for the GMT complication making it easy to read which time zone you have set. A date window at 3 o’clock and finally a power reserve indicator between the 7 and 8 positions. Beating inside we have the Spring drive Cal.9R66 movement which is mechanical, but with an electromagnetic escapement regulated by a quartz oscillator. It has 30 jewels and a power reserve of an impressive 72 hours. Its sole power source is a mainspring that drives a series of gears. A rotor connected to the end of these gears generates a small electrical charge that activates an electronic circuit and quartz oscillator. The Exhibition case back has a sapphire crystal and AR coating the same as the front. Geneva stripes decorate the 9R66.
Fitted with a Grande Seiko 5 link stainless steel bracelet design of brushed outer segments polished inner segments and brushed centre segments with screw pins for a very secure fit.
Whenever the opportunity to sell a Grand Seiko comes to my desk, I take it! I think what they offer is easily some of the very best finishing and precision we see today in the market! Like most, the finishing is unrivalled at their retail price point, so when it is pre-owned it is untouchable!
