The Watch

Here we have a 2022 Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 Green part of the “T Sport range” it has a 42.5mm brushed and polished stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with thick tapered lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 49.5mm and a case thickness of 13mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. Down the flanks of the watch, we have a polished groove leading the eye to the signed screw-down crown on the right side protected by crown guards and deep knurling for extra grip. The unidirectional bezel has a black ceramic dive insert with large silver numerals precisely marked holding a flat sapphire crystal above a green gradient dial that is black around its outer edge and dark green in the centre, an outer minute chapter ring surrounds the applied disc and baton indexes with the customary inverted triangle at 12 o’clock. At 6 o’clock a date window nicely balances the dial, thick sword hands infilled with SuperLuminova complemented by the “T” bar sweeping second hand. At 12 o’clock we have the Tissot motif and at 6 o’clock “Seastar” “Powermatic 80” and “30 Bar 300m / 1000ft” complete this striking dive watch. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back showcases the automatic Tissot Powermatic 80 movement, 23 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour, with a modified rotor that has an engraved wave pattern across it and up to 3 days of power reserve, NIVACHRON balance spring makes the movement resistant to shocks and temperature. The watch comes fitted with its 21mm Tissot brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet, a signed deployment clasp, safety flip lock and dive extension, all links provided and the watch comes with its Tissot presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

The Tissot Seastar has always been a great option for anyone looking to purchase an entry diver from a brand with true history and heritage, I would also argue it's a great watch for any collector who wants a good-looking piece at an affordable price! It ticks so many boxes and I know will sit nicely with most collections, so snatch it up and add it to your watch box.

The Brand

The Swiss luxury watch company Tissot from Le Locle, Switzerland, was established in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile. Under Charles-Emile’s direction, they manufactured pocket watches with parts from Russia and the United States. In 1915, the company began producing wristwatches. Between 1920 and 1977, Tissot produced its own movements. In 1930 to survive the 1929 crash and economic crisis they entered into an agreement with Omega to form the SSIH Group which 53 years later became the Swatch Group.
