Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Maurice De Mauriac box and paperwork. The watch comes paired with its original two 20mm quick-release straps, a stainless steel mesh and a two-piece NATO. In the box is a custom-made pink tennis ball. The watch is from July 2022 and is in worn condition, but the overall excellent condition, as you can see from the photos. The watch comes with its Manufacturer's Warranty.

The Watch

Daniel Dreifuss was created from three important figures in his life – philosopher Michel de Montaigne, François Mauriac, a Nobel Prize winner in Literature (1952); and Moshe (Moses). In 1997, he founded Maurice de Mauriac in Zürich. Their workshop and store are located near the Paradeplatz in Zürich. Interestingly Daniel Dreifuss is a man who thinks in terms of colours, he feels colours and even hears them, this fact plays out in his creative designs. Holding workshops for their clients where they can see first-hand the creative process and how subtle changes to selecting a strap, dial and case can make huge changes to the end product.

Here we have a 2022 Maurice De Mauriac Rallymaster Limited Racquet, a collaboration between Racquet, a New York-based quarterly magazine that encompasses all that is Tennis with its style, culture and Carlton DeWoody an artist and designer based in New York who created Reunion 2012 a multi-disciplined studio that mixes architecture, interior design and branding. The watch is limited to 40 pieces, the satin-brushed 39mm stainless steel case elegantly tapers at the lugs with a lug-to-lug length of 47mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, is an embossed signed crown. A stepped bezel holds an AR-coated sapphire crystal above a soft pink textured dial. An outer “rally” rehaut surrounds the applied disc indexes coated in SuperLumiNova marking the hours, at 3 o’clock a date window with cyclops magnification on the crystal. The centre line and net pattern represent a Tennis court, at 9 o’clock we have the sub-seconds register complete with a 20-second countdown used to time the Tennis serve time limit and a yellow lumed lollipop counterweighted hand. Slender sword hands complete this Tennis inspired watch, at 12 o’clock we have the Maurice De Mauriac motif and finally at 6 o’clock “Rallymaster”. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back with a repeating pink Tennis racquet and yellow Tennis ball in the centre. Around the outer edge, you find the number out of 40, inside an Automatic Landeron 24 movement, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes with two 20mm quick-release straps, a stainless steel mesh and a two-piece NATO and also comes with its Maurice De Mauriac presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

This is a watch for someone who loves Tennis, Racquet and pink! Or just someone who loves the design, because this is an incredibly well-made watch regardless of your opinions on the look. I have to say, on the wrist it is a lot of fun and I could see myself wearing a pink dial watch in the future. If you are unsure, book an appointment and come see it for yourself.
