The Watch
Here we have an exciting collaboration Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Excellence La Semaine Blanche limited to just 178 pieces, the 41.5mm case is made from Micro Blasted grade 2 titanium & polished grade 5 titanium bars that run along the outside of the case incorporating the lugs with a lug-to-lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 11.5mm give the watch an impressive watch presence. On the right side, is a signed crown with a red insert. The slim bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal above an Opaline (matt silver) dial, and a raised minute chapter ring has applied blue rounded baton indexes with a red rounded baton at 12 o’clock marking the hours, at 6 o’clock a date window. Alain Silberstein's signature hands consist of a red circular lacquered hour hand with a triangle as a point, a blue lacquered arrow minute hand and finally a yellow lacquered wavey second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Louis Erard motif. In the centre is an oval that shows in the form of a face the moods of the wearer during each day of the week from a grey Monday to a happy Sunday and every mood in between a unique take on the day as an emotion. On the reverse, a screwed-down exhibition case back with the engraving of the creators and the number out of 178, inside an automatic Sellita SW220-1, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, this movement has hand winding and hacking for your convenience. The watch comes fitted on a 22mm grey nylon strap with a grade 2 titanium-signed buckle and comes with its Louis Erard presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
This is such a fun watch and the days of the week are truly brilliant, a clear merger of the great minds at Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein coming together to make something memorable in a world of watches that feels like every new release is a copy and paste of something the same with a new colour and maybe 1mm bigger.
The Brand
Louis Erard was born in 1893. In 1929 he founded his watchmaking school and a casing company in La Chaux‑de‑Fonds (Neuchâtel, Switzerland). He named the Company: Louis Erard & André Perret. Production of their first watches began in 1931. In 1956 they obtained permission to manufacture their movements, something only the very best achieved this accolade. For ten years from 1993 until 2003, the company remained closed. In 2003 the company was bought by private investors. Today they continue to expand the boundaries of Horology. This exciting French watch brand Alain Silberstein was established in 1990 in Besançon by Alain Silberstein and Sylvie Silberstein. Their designs in watches have a modern, extravagant aesthetic heavily influenced by the German Bauhaus. Their use of colour and unusual shapes make their watches stand out from the crowd. Collaborating with many brands and design houses such as Louis Erard and MB&F.
