The Watch
Emmanuel Dietrich established DEITRICH in 2010. Based in Zurich, Switzerland. In 2012 they released their first watch, the GTE Geneva at Baselworld that same year. Development quickly moved on to creating Organic Time in 2014. While on holiday in Corsica he conceived the idea for the Perception featuring the first-ever “relative seconds display”. As a homage to Gerald Genta, he created the Time Companion in 2017. It was decided in 2018 to discontinue the Organic Time collection, evolving his design onto the production of the DD-1 in 2019. Finally, in 2021 he introduced the Skin Diver collection.
Here we have a 2021 Dietrich Skin Diver SD-1 with its 38.5mm stainless steel case. The case gently curves towards the tapered drilled short lugs. The lug to lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 12mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a signed screw-down crown with a sapphire blue cap. The 120-click bezel has a sapphire insert with painted markings coated in Super-LumiNova BGW-9. The blue fumé crosshair dial is made of sapphire and graduates from a dark blue to a pale blue in the center. The disc and baton indexes are coated in the same Super-LumiNova BGW-9 and appear to float on top of the dial. At 6 o’clock a date window. The stylised hands are taken from the Organic Time dials and are coated in the same luminance. Text remains simple with DIETRICH Automatique. On the reverse, a screw-down case back. Inside an Automatic Sellita SW200, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its 20mm brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet with a geometric pattern and a concealed clasp. Included in the box is a rubber strap with a signed buckle. The watch comes with its DIETRICH presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
I've been a huge fan of the brand and what they've been producing, but this is one of the first watches that they've released that had me looking at my own personal collection figuring out if there was a way to add it! I wouldn't hesitate on this one if you like it!
