The Watch
This Unworn Unimatic x Mihara Yasuhiro U1-MY2 is their second collaboration watch made with Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro. The watch was sold in selected Mihara Yasuhiro’s stores in Tokyo and Osaka. Limited to 100 pieces, ours is number 81. The 40.5mm stainless steel case features a stonewashed treatment of a white Cerakote coating which gives it a very unusual full white appearance. A lug to lug length of 49mm and a thickness of 14mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, is a screw-down crown protected by crown guards. The sterile 120 clicks unidirectional bezel, so characteristic of Unimatic design, has a lume pip at 12 o’clock and is coated in Cerakote white. A double domed sapphire crystal has an AR coating on its underside. The minimalist white matte dial has applied disc and baton markers in white Super-LumiNova lume, matching the pearl on the minimalist bezel insert. The matching white phantom ladder hands and the reverse lollipop second hand with an off-white tip complete this sophisticated dive watch. On the reverse is a screw-down case back with deep engraving celebrating the collaboration and number of 100, inside an Automatic calibre Seiko NH35A, 24 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on a heavy-duty Unimatic white Nylon two-piece strap with a signed buckle and also comes with its original Unimatic presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
It's not often if ever, you see an all-white watch! Especially down to the hands, indices, date, strap, we could really go on... This watch is difficult to tell the time on, it's a bold look, it won't be for everyone, but it's a wonderful collaboration, and I'm excited to see more that push the boundaries of what we expect with watches.
