Designed in Berlin and polished by hand, on the right side, is a signed crown with deep knurling, a flat polished bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal. The glossy, bright Siren white dial is the essence of summer on your wrist, an outer minute track with orange numerals and blue-coated Arabic indexes and batons add a splash of colour at 6 o’clock, a sub-seconds register with an orange hand, steel Sword hands with white luminescence. The text consists of the NOMOS motif and in orange Neomatik at 12 o’clock. On the reverse, a polished sapphire crystal exhibition screwed-down case back, inside an in-house automatic Nomos Cal. DUW 3001, 27 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour, the movement has the NOMOS Swing System, the brand's in-house escapement, providing excellent accuracy. Exquisite Cotes de Geneve and perlage decoration cover this movement, a skeletonised rotor show off the attention to detail a Nomos watch gives you. If you have been looking for a high-quality summer watch and want something that stands out for the right reasons, this should be something you consider! I also find this case size to be perfect on the wrist, any bigger and Nomos continue with their large and long lugs which make them feel very large on the wrist personally, I even find the smaller cases to wear surprisingly well.
Nomos was founded in 1990, just after Germany’s reunification happened with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the USSR collapsed. Based in the Glashutte region, it takes inspiration from the Bauhaus design movement. To have Glashutte on the dial, Nomos has to meet stringent quality standards. They must create at least 50% of the watch calibre in Glashutte to receive the title of being a true Glashutte watch. They only use in-house manufactured movements built up to 95% in the region, surpassing that requirement.
