The Watch

Here we have a 2020 Davosa Ternos Diver Automatic 16155504 with a polished and brushed 40mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with tapered lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 12mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side a signed screw-down crown protected by crown guards. The unidirectional stainless steel bezel has deep knurling for extra grip and a blue ceramic dive insert, and a domed sapphire crystal AR coated sits above a Blue dial. An outer minute track has applied disc and baton indexes coated in Super LumiNova marking the hours, at 3 o’clock a date window with cyclops magnification on the crystal, elegant Cathedral hands complemented by a lollipop counterweighted sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the DAVOSA motif and at 6 o’clock “Ternos diver 200m Automatic” complete this rugged dive watch. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with an embossed DAVOSA motif in the centre, inside an automatic DAV 3021 based on either a Sellita SW200-1 or ETA 2824-2 beating at 28,800 beats per hour, the movement has hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes fitted on its 20mm DAVOSA polished and brushed jubilee-style stainless steel bracelet with a signed folding clasp with a flip-lock and the watch comes with its DAVOSA presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

Our first Davosa in stock and I am very impressed with the build quality for the price, there's no denying the value here for someone wanting this look but doesn't want to go down the Rolex route, for whatever reason that may be. Plus, at this price point, it becomes a lot of fun to play around with designs like this without breaking the bank.

The Brand

Paul Hasler founded DAVOSA Watches in 1881, situated in the Swiss Jura hills between Geneva and Basel they began specialising in watch assembly for many brands, their motif is a stylised compass rose, a historical nautical symbol. In 1946 with the help of his brother David Hasler, they started to produce their own movements and watches for the American market, success continued throughout Europe and in 1974 they changed the company name to Hasler & Co. S.A. During the quartz crisis, they embraced the technology of producing quartz watches in 1975. As the demand for mechanical watches began to rise in 1987 they created a collection of chronographs with Valjoux 7750 and 7751 movements under the DAVOSA brand. In 1998, they presented their collection to Basel World for the first time. During the 2000s they continued to innovate and introduced a pilot watch celebrating 100yrs of the Wright brothers. In 2013 their Argonautic Dual time was attached to a special balloon which rose to 35,000 feet returning to earth completely functioning. They moved their head office to Herford in Germany in 2020, they were celebrating 140 years of watchmaking in 2021.
