Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original CWC box and paperwork. The watch comes paired on a military-style 20mm NATO strap. The watch is from December 2020, based on the serial numbers, and is sold in perfect condition, as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

CWC (Cabot Watch Company) was founded by Mr Ray Mellor in 1972. He was formerly Contracts director of Hamilton Watch. He quickly secured contracts to supply the British MOD and has supplied them many thousands of watches. In 1996 on Ray’s retirement he sold the company to Silvermans Ltd who sold CWC watches to the public, since that time and due to the increased costs of producing watches in Switzerland, the British MOD requirements of buying cheap has meant they have ceased using Silvermans.

Here we have a 2020 CWC SBS Diver SF300 QS120 with a 41.5mm stainless steel case coated in black PVD for that stealth aesthetic. Part of the CWC Royal Navy Diver series, it has been a standard issue for the iconic specialized diving units of Britain’s Ministry of Defense (MOD). A lug to lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 12mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a screw-down crown is protected by the crown guards. The 120 clicks black bezel has a 60-minute insert with a triangle and lume pip at 12 o’clock, Deep knurling makes for easy adjustment even while wearing gloves. The flat sapphire crystal sits above a black dial. An outer minute track has large batons and numerals at 3, 6 and 9 with an inverted triangle at 12 o’clock thickly coated in Super LumiNova. We are reminded of the Omega Seamaster300 which was clearly its inspiration. At 3 o’clock a framed day/date window. Text is minimalist with CWC and the MOD required “L” signifying Super LumiNova and finally at 6 o’clock “Quartz”. Large sword hands are complemented by an arrow point second hand all coated in Super LumiNova. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the MOD required numbers engraved in the centre. Inside an ETA 955.122 Swiss Quartz movement. The watch comes fitted on its original black 20mm NATO strap with fixed lugs making strap changing a breeze and comes with its CWC presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

If you love the vintage look but want modern reliability and a super modern look, this is the watch for you! It wears incredibly well on the wrist and really does add a modern twist to a vintage design, this is what modern CWC has really nailed.
