Steinhart was founded in 2001 in Augsburg, Germany by Gunther Steinhart. The 2019 Unworn Steinhart Ocean 39 Explorer Plexi Limited Edition is inspired by the Rolex Ref. 5513 which was a combination of the Submariner and Explorer in 2018 Christies sold an original for one million dollars. This Limited Edition homage is made up of 300 pieces.
The Oyster-style case is made from 316L stainless steel. Satin brushed finish on the top of the lugs and polished sides of the case, transitioning with a crisp edge. The 39mm case has a 47mm lug-to-lug making it comfortable on the wrist. On the right side, a signed screw-down crown protected by crown guards. The bezel has a black dive insert and black dial that plays with the light as you move your wrist. A luminous pip at the 12 o'clock position. The deep knurling on the side of the bezel helps in getting a good grip on the bezel for easy operation. The 120 clicks bezel has a satisfying click action. An old-school box-shaped Plexiglas acrylic crystal just as the original Ref. 5513 had. The black dial has an outer minute track, applied Old Radium-style Super-LumiNova numerals, and slim batons that mark the hours mimicking the Ref: 5513. Elegant Mercedes hands with a sweeping second hand coated with Old Radium-style Super-LumiNova. The screw-down case back has the number out of 300 engraved on it. Inside either an Automatic ETA 2824, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on a 20mm Satin brushed stainless steel bracelet with screw links and fliplock and comes with its Steinhart presentation box and papers.
