The Watch
Here we have a 2019 Schofield Signalman Bare Bones with a 43.5mm bead-blasted Titanium case that sits proudly on your wrist with angled screwed lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 51.5mm and a case thickness of 14.5mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a deeply knurled crown, the small hole beneath the crown is a redundant pusher button for setting the GMT seen on the classic Signalman models. A smooth bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal AR coated above an attractive sterile Rose Gold stepped dial, tapered baton hands outlined in black are infilled with Super-LumiNova C3 complemented by a black lollipop counterweighted sweeping second hand tipped in red. At 3 o’clock a round date window completes this minimalist timepiece. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with a stylised lighthouse seen top-down engraved into it, inside an automatic ETA 2824-2, 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this workhorse movement has hand-winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes fitted on a Schofield-signed leather strap with an additional Schofield strap both with signed buckles provided in the box and the watch comes with its Schofield presentation box and paperwork.
Personal Note
We have been fortunate enough to have had a few Schofield watches in stock over the years, they always impress me and I just wish I had a bigger wrist to support them as I'd likely have one! They know their design language, they know what they do well and they don't budge which is great to see! Onwards and upwards for all UK brands!
The Brand
In 2011 at Salon QP in London, Giles Ellis introduced the world to his Schofield brand. He is based just north of Brighton in Sussex on the south coast of the UK. He is part of the British watchmaking revival.
