The Watch
Heinrich Moser, born in Schaffhausen, founded H. Moser & Cie. in 1828. As a young entrepreneur, he quickly learnt about the watchmaking profession. He found himself in St.Petersburg and soon became “the specialist” for its aristocracy.
They built a factory employing several hundred craftspeople in Switzerland. He produced around 500,000 watches during his lifetime. The watches ranged from three-hand watches to incredible “grande complications”. Heinrich was passionate and deeply involved in the industrialisation of Schaffhausen, including the building of the first Swiss dam, which featured an innovative hydro-mechanical turbine to produce energy for the machinery used in watch production.
Due to the “quartz crisis,” they became a part of the Dixi Mechanique Group. Their original brand name was dropped, becoming "Hy Moser & Cie". In 2002, Dr Jürgen Lange and Heinrich Moser's great-grandson Roger Nicholas Balsiger, founded Moser Schaffhausen AG. In 2005, they built a new factory in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and H. Moser & Cie trademark was formally re-launched. The MELB Holding Group has owned H. Moser & Cie, CEO, the former boss at Audemars Piguet, Georges-Henri Meylan. They have been based in Le Brassus in Switzerland since 2012.
We present for you a 2019 H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Tourbillon. Limited to just 50 pieces. First introduced in 2018 pre-SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) one of the world's largest trade shows in watches and jewellery. As part of their sports collection, it has a unique stainless steel case with brushed and polished surfaces that transition with elegant lines. The sides of the case have deep recesses with exquisite grill engraving. Reminiscent of the streamlined automobiles of the 1930s and 40s. On the right side, a signed crown with the “M”. A polished bezel has soft rounded edges holding a domed sapphire crystal. Midnight-Blue fumé dial has an outer chapter ring with lume pips. Applied facet edged obelisk-shaped indexes mark the hours. As you rotate your wrist they catch the light in a magical way. Semi skeletonised leaf hands have Super LumiNova infill. The star of the show is the large aperture for the Tourbillon with its Gold balance, and skeletonised bridges, it is a sight to behold. As you look into the beating heart of the incredible Calibre. HMC 804 movement you travel back in time to the Horology craftsman of the past. On the reverse, a screwed-down exhibition case back. Inside an Automatic Tourbillon HMC 804, 28 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The skeletonised rotor is made of 18ct Gold with an engraved H. Moser & Cie. motif. This stunning movement can also be found in their Endeavour and Heritage lines. Decorated with the Moser hallmark and Moser stripes. The movement has a double anti-shock system reflecting its sports credentials. The watch comes with two quality straps, a fitted 22mm rubber strap with an engraved buckle and a 22mm H. Moser brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet with a signed push-button release folding clasp. The solid build of the bracelet gives you confidence when on your wrist. The watch comes with its H. Moser & Cie presentation box and a full set of papers, plus additional straps.
Personal Note
I am honoured to bring this Moser Tourbillion to the website and to start a new chapter of KibbleWatches, your place to go to buy everything from entry Seiko to Haute Horlogerie like this fantastic timepiece. Whilst this Moser is no small chunk of change, the attention to detail and hand crafted nature of what Moser do is really evident when this watch is in hand or on the wrist, the finishing is exquisite and despite its larger case size, it is very comfortable on the wrist. Arrange your viewing today at our Clerkenwell, London office.
