Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Hamilton box and Hamilton paperwork. The watch comes paired with its original green khaki NATO strap. The watch is from March 2018 and is in worn condition, but overall fantastic condition with virtually no signs of wear! The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

In 1892 Hamilton was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and began producing pocket watches. Their focus has always been to make accurate affordable timepieces. In 1914 they became an official supplier to the U.S. Armed Forces during WWI, they shifted production from pocket watches to the more convenient wristwatch. In 1926 Admiral Richard E. Byrd became the first aviator to reach the North Pole, circling it for 13 minutes before returning to base. He timed this pioneering 15 hour and 57-minute flight with a Hamilton watch.

As soon as America joined the Allied forces in World War 2 they stopped producing watches for consumers to focus on the enormous task of supplying the U.S. Armed Forces. They produced over one million timepieces including wristwatches and marine chronometers, even earning an Army-Navy E award for excellence in manufacturing.

On May 16, 1974, Hamilton was sold to SSIH, which is the previous name of what is now the Swatch Group. They remained in the US until 2003 when they transferred their operation to  Biel, Switzerland. From this date forward they were able to put on their dials Swiss made.
Inspired by the military specced Hamiltons that were made from the 1960s up to the 1980s. Its bead-blasted 38.5mm stainless steel round case has tapering curved lugs. At 47mm lug to lug length, you can be sure of a comfortable fit on the wrist. The bezel holds the flat sapphire crystal. Its matte black dial has an outer minute track, Arabic numerals coated in Super-LumiNova old radium lume giving it that vintage look marking the hours. The smaller numerals underneath mark the 24-hour scale.  Slim syringe hands have the same Super-LumiNova® old radium lume giving it that vintage appeal. Inside a Manually Wound ETA Cal. 2801-2, Pre 80hr power reserve movement, 17 Jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. Fitted on its original khaki 20mm Nato strap with signed buckle.

Personal Note

Having personally owned this model for a while many will know I really love it and enjoy wearing it, so I can't speak highly enough of it, especially for the price! Plus this having the "older" ETA movement rather than the "newer" 80-Hour movement, I think this one is far more reliable, but that is just my opinion.
