Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Ventus box, watch roll and paperwork. The watch comes with three 20mm straps: a sailcloth style strap with a brass buckle, a tropic style rubber strap and a vintage leather strap. The watch is from May 2017 and is sold in worn condition, but overall great condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Here we have a 2017 Ventus Mori M-4 with a 41mm brass case, taking its inspiration from the diver's helmets of the 1950s, the brass will patina in a unique way over time. A subtle curve of the case with a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 13.5mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. A 120-click unidirectional brass bezel has the 60-minute scale with a triangle at 12 o’clock deeply engraved into it, a double-domed sapphire crystal sits above a blue sandwich dial. The SuperLuminova layer is visible through the top blue layer that has the minute track and indices cut out adding depth to the dial, at 3 o’clock a date window. Sword and arrow hands are coated in the same luminance complemented by a tapered second hand with lume filled counterweight, at 12 o’clock we have the Ventus motif. When the three arrows are aligned they reflect the Mōri Motonari “Three Arrows” story, the story goes that Mōri Motonari, chief of the Mori clan asked his three sons to break an arrow he had given them which they did with ease and they felt pleased with themselves. He then tied three arrows together and asked each of his sons to break them but each one failed and his sons felt deflated, the moral of the story is If you remain united, your clan will survive, but if you become divided, it will perish. On the reverse, a screw-down stainless steel case back with an embossed divers helmet in the centre, inside an automatic Seiko NH35A, 24 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour, this workhorse movement has hacking and hand-winding for your convenience. The watch comes with three 20mm straps: a sailcloth style strap, a tropic style rubber strap and a vintage leather strap in a canvas watch roll and comes with its Ventus presentation box, watch roll and paperwork.

Personal Note

Another first for us with this Ventus and again I am very impressed. I personally prefer how Brass looks and ages over Bronze, the tone stays richer in my opinion. The design and story behind this is fantastic too, I would highly recommend this if you are after an affordable dive watch with something a little different.

The Brand

Ventus was founded by close friends Elshan, who has successfully headed Kickstarter projects and Shane, a collector of mechanical watches. Based in Singapore they have produced many models since their foundation in 2014 including the Caspian in 2015 and the Black Kite in 2016.
