Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Bremont box and paperwork. The watch comes paired on its original Bremont 22mm strap with a spare strap in the box. The watch is from July 2017 and is sold in worn condition, but as you can see it is in fantastic condition. The watch comes with our 12-months Warranty.

The Watch

Bremont was founded in 2002 by the brother's Nick and Giles English. Their watch designs are inspired by their love of flying and everything mechanical. During the 1990s while flying their 1930s biplane over France they got into trouble and had to land in a field. Not wishing to get the authorities involved, they were met by the farm owner who gave them and the plane shelter, it turned out he had flown during the war and was an engineer. The brothers, grateful to the kind farmer, promised him they would never forget him, his name was Antoine Bremont. In 1995 they were involved in an accident and sadly lost their father Dr Euan English while flying their World War II-vintage Harvard aircraft. His loss and their injuries drove the brothers to create a fitting legacy. Moving into their Manufacturing & Technology Centre in 2021. Innovation and producing technologically advanced timepieces has been an ever-expanding experience for Bremont. Their military connections through special edition watches and tireless work with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion means their late fathers' legacy will continue to grow.

Here we have a 2017 Bremont U2/T that has been specially produced for the American retailer Timeless Luxury Watches based in Texas. It is limited to 100 pieces which ours is number 34. The inspiration for the watch came from a hypothetical question “If Bremont could have designed a watch during World War 2 that reflects the iconic P51 Mustang what would it look like?” The 43 mm brushed stainless steel round case uses the Bremont Trip-Tick construction system made up of 3 parts,  a hardened steel bezel, a middle section made from either Titanium or as in our case bronze-toned DLC treated middle barrel and finally a steel case back. A 49.5 mm lug to lug length gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side at 2 o’clock a screw-down crown to adjust the inner chapter ring and at 4 o’clock a screw-down crown with a P51 Star for adjusting the time and date, both have deep knurling making gripping them even with gloves on, a satisfying experience. The brushed hardened bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal with AR coating applied to the underside of the crystal. A black inner 12-hour chapter ring rotates in both directions with the crown at 2 o'clock and has beige 12-hour markings. The black dial has thickly applied beige coloured Super-LumiNova Arabic numerals, plongeur blued steel watch hands alongside a blue steel sweeping seconds hand with a red arrow point. The text is minimalist with the “Bremont” motif at 12 o’clock and “London” at 6 o’clock. The vintage aesthetic has been successfully achieved without going overboard. On the reverse, stainless steel screwed in case back with “Martin-Baker Ejection Seat” emblem in the centre. Martin-Baker approached Bremont in 2007 to create a watch that could withstand the very same torturous testing programme as their ejection seats. Inside suspended between a rubber sandwich we have the movement. This combination of parts to the case acts as a faraday cage making it anti-magnetic and very shock absorbent. An Automatic Bremont Modified Calibre BE-36AE Automatic, 25 Jewels, 28,800 beats per hour COSC certified to ISO 3159 standard. Made up of an Anachron balance spring, Nivaflex 1 mainspring.  The watch comes fitted on a Bremont brown 2 piece leather strap with a signed buckle and included in the box is a tan coloured 22mm NATO and also comes with its Bremont presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

Arguably one of the best designed Bremont in my mind, beautifully designed with the subtle but well done faux patina, all housed in a surprisingly wearable larger case size, perfect for the man or woman who likes a bigger watch but is a big fan of vintage design. If you are undecided book your appointment and come see it in the metal for yourself.
