The Watch
Nomos was founded in 1990 just after the reunification of Germany happened with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the USSR. Based in the Glashutte region it takes inspiration from the Bauhaus design movement. To have Glashutte on the dial Nomos has to meet stringent quality standards. They must create at least 50 % of the watch calibre in Glashutte to receive the title of being a true Glashutte watch. They only use in-house manufactured movements built up to 95% in the region surpassing that requirement.
This Nomos Club II Timeless was introduced in 2016 and has a limited production of 100 pieces. Our watch is an early No.8 out of 100. It's a collaboration between Timeless Luxury Watches and Nomos. Timeless Luxury watches was founded in 2010 Texas USA. A watch retailer built by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
A 38.5mm stainless steel round case has tapering curved lugs. A high polished case with a lug to lug length of 48.75mm and a thickness of 8.45mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. A thick polished bezel holds a flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The matte blue dial plays with the light as you rotate your wrist, an outer minute track with yellow Arabic numerals at the 5-minute intervals is a nice contrast. Printed Arabic numeral and Baton indexes mark the hours. They are painted in green luminescence giving a bright hue to the dial when charged. The pencil hands are painted in a slightly different blue luminescence giving the dial an interesting look. At 6 o’clock a sub-seconds dial with a yellow seconds hand. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back. The sapphire crystal showcases a Manually Wound Nomos Alpha, 17 Jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. Decorated beautifully with Glashütte stripes and thermally blued screws. Featuring their in-house “Swing System” Escapement which was first introduced at BaselWorld 2014.
Personal Note
I always love a Nomos, especially the Club range, it is one of my favourites! I think it is due to the case shape and how it wears, plus the fun dials they usually have, this specific one is stunning and a really great combination of colours, all being housed in a perfectly sized case too!
