The Watch
Steinhart was founded in 2001 in Augsburg, Germany by Gunther Steinhart.
Here we have a 2015 Steinhart Ocean One GMT Pepsi with a 42mm stainless steel Oyster style case. Clearly, this watch takes its inspiration from the Rolex GMT-Master II. Tapered lugs with a lug to lug length of 50mm and a thickness of 12.5mm gives the watch an excellent wrist presence. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp edges. On the right side, a screw-down signed crown is protected by shoulders. A deep-knurled stainless steel bezel has a Pepsi 24-hour insert. The flat sapphire crystal sits above a matte black dial. Applied disc and baton indexes are coated in luminescence marking the hours. At 3 o’clock a date window with a cyclops magnification on the crystal. Elegant Mercedes hands are complemented with a red GMT hand and a reverse lollipop sweeping seconds hand. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with a deep engraving of Poseidon on his seahorse. Inside an Automatic ETA 2893-2, 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its 22mm stainless steel Oyster style bracelet with a signed folding clasp and also comes with its Steinhart presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
For the money I really don't think you can go wrong with Steinhart, are they copying Rolex? Yes, they don't exactly hide that and it is no longer really a surprise... But with the ever-growing prices and the seemingly impossible task of getting any Rolex from an AD today, why not save yourself a chunk of change and get something fun and affordable? Won't hear me stop you...
