The Watch
It all began in 1999 when the founder Erdal Yildiz was given the pocket watch of his grandfather. While trying to find a watchmaker to service the watch a flame was ignited inside Erdal. His enthusiasm for watchmaking began. As a hobby, his curiosity and knowledge grew. In 2004 he began to meet with watch component suppliers in Germany and Switzerland.
Deciding to use the Internet as his marketplace he could reach the maximum number of customers. In 2007 - The Tourby brand was born. The brand and logo are then registered at the Patent Office in Munich. Based in Hagen in Westphalia Germany. He quickly set up an English-speaking website followed by a German-speaking website. Creating unique timepieces at attractive prices.
Here we have a 2011 Tourby Marine with a 42mm brushed and polished stainless steel case. Tapered lugs with a lug to lug length of 52mm and a thickness of 11.5mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is an onion-style crown with fine knurling for extra grip. The polished smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal AR coated. The .925 Sterling Silver dial has a fine layer of creamy white enamel with a granular texture reminiscent of the pocket watches of the past. An outer minute track with blue numerals and finely printed Arabic numeral indices marking the hours. The Thermally blued pear hands are complemented by a small second register at 6 o’clock. Text at 12 o’clock is precisely printed. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back showcasing the exquisite Manually Wound ETA Unitas 6498-1, 17 Jewels, 18,000 beats per hour. This pocket watch movement has been expertly finished. The watch comes fitted on its original 22mm leather strap with a stainless steel buckle. Comes with its Tourby presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
Something a little left field with this Tourby, that is exactly what we love! Especially when we can offer it at such a great price, you get to try out a brand and watch you've likely not heard of or tried before and not have a huge hole burning in your pocket from it.
